We are well into the cold season and it’s about time that we tell you how to take care of your beloved Evolve teardrop trailer during the winter.
But don’t worry, it’s very easy. Here are 10 steps you need to follow if you are storing your trailer outside:

  1. Make sure your trailer is stabilized.
The rear stabilizer jacks should be down & locked. The wheel jack should be blocked in (with a piece of wood, chuck or wheel cup) and cranked up to provide a level trailer.
  2. Check that all vents are closed tight. This will help prevent any leaks and bugs getting in.
  3. Make sure all the windows are pushed down all the way.
  4. Lock all doors up including the hatch door.
  5. Check the kitchen for any forgotten food or liquids. Anything with a liquid in it can freeze and potentially burst, which could result in leaks or mold. So let’s be safe and toss it or store it inside.
  6. Make sure your Master Switch is in the OFF position.
  7. Unplug the 6 Amp Battery Charger from the GCFI Outlet.
  8. Disconnect and store your battery.
Carefully disconnect the battery. You don’t want it to freeze!
Tip #1: take a picture of the set up prior to disconnecting anything so you know exactly how it needs to go back together in the new year.
Tip#2: Have a block of wood or plastic on the ground ready for you to put the battery on.
Bring your battery inside. You need to make sure it is in a warm place, on your piece of wood or plastic to help maintain the battery level and do not ground it out.
  9. Lock up your tongue box.
  10. Cover Up Your Trailer!
Whether you use a tarp or one of the trailer covers we sell, make sure it is secured to the trailer or weighted down.

*Optional: you can place a moisture collector inside the cabin. It can help with the damp air created from rain, snow and then the melting snow. You can also place the same kind of moisture collector in a drawer or on the counter, in the kitchen area.

If your trailer is in dry storage (not heated) please follow the same steps, minus the trailer cover.
If your trailer is in a heated storage feel free to leave the battery in, but follow steps 1-7.

There, you’re all done!
